[Private to Corbin]

So... how about convincing Hector to visit you for the night sometime? So I can talk to Lacroix without him worrying that Hector's going to walk in on him.

It's a win-win for everyone, right? No harm done. But Lacroix seems to think that Hector lacks... initiative? sometimes, so maybe it'd be a good idea for you to ask him.

Hector comes over when he wants to, or goes out when he wants to; so I do see him from time to time.

Exactly why are we having a discussion about this in the first place?
I told you that kid lacks any ability to shut up.

Either way, you do realize that it makes me an accomplice to the situation if I ask Hector to do anything with the motive of knowing you just want a chance to call the kid without him being there to catch him talking to you.

We're having this conversation because we both want the same thing, so we should help each other to get it. Right?

Hector knows Lacroix talks to his friends on the phone -- I mean, he has to if he looks at the minutes on the bill. He seems okay with that, right? He hasn't banned Lacroix from using the phone or anything. But... he doesn't know what we talk about.

I don't recall saying I wanted to magnanimously help the kid maintain a social life, no.

Or Hector doesn't have the time, or desire, to go through every since phone record; I'm guessing the latter.
So you want me to distract Hector so you can talk to the kid.

You do realize that you sound like a stalker, yes?

You want a reclusive guy in some kind of death cult. So do I.

I'm not a stalker. If I were a stalker, I'd creepily call an investigator to follow Lacroix around and figure out where he lives, so that I can just show up. I still have no idea where he lives. You can see Hector all you want; all I can do is listen to Lacroix's voice.

...I what? I doubt my motives are quite the same as you might have.

Well, when you have the same sort of life that I do then I'm certain Hector would be just fine with you being around his home, and his kid, after a while.
I wouldn't recommend it though; the fine print can be rather demanding.

You still want to see Hector more, right? Just like I want to get to talk to Lacroix. It's the same.

What sort of life?

I do, but not on the grounds that I have to force or beg him to see me; that's insulting to the both of us.

A very morbid one, by most accounts, but I enjoy it. You, however, wouldn't.

I didn't say anything about forcing. ...Eh. Nevermind.

You're awfully determined about this.

Why is that?

And don't tell me it's because you want to talk to the kid, you already talk to the kid and Hector hasn't caught him yet. If you were that worried about it you wouldn't take that chance so often.

So exactly what are you planning?

Gratuitous amounts of phone sex? Something like that.

I'm actually tempted...to laugh, at that comment.

I told you to deal with that when you were on vacation, you just can't take decent advice.

This is really such an odd situation.
I suppose I can ask Hector if he would like to help me film some early in the week next week, or this weekend; but I don't plan to make a habit of this, Asher.

And you had best use your time wisely, Hector will likely leave my apartment either at dawn or before it; I have a complicated schedule and I sleep in the mornings.

Well, I didn't want to push him. I mean, I still don't. If he's not cool with it, then obviously I won't insist on the idea. But it's pretty much the best we can do right now.

You sleep in the morning and you bite people -- or at least that's what Lacroix said, but he was probably exaggerating because he thinks you don't like him. You sound like a vampire or something.

Anyway, thanks. Hopefully soon Hector'll approve of my existence enough to let me go over there without having to deal with sneaking around like this.

Again, I refer to the fact that he is; a teenage boy, or close to it.
Hormones are a frightening thing.

Yes, exactly; I'm a blood-sucking creature of the night.
Or an idiot that has clients that keep him at work during the evenings because they don't want the world knowing their dirty little secrets.
Take your pick.

Lacroix said I bite people; that's amusing. I don't recall biting him.

Maybe, but I'm not sure I would count on it soon. Hector is very cautious, and his most frustrating trait is that determination to disregard anyone that isn't actually of use to him; so that is bound to be a wall right there.
If you can get past it I wouldn't get too comfortable; Hector has this morbid way of making people feel expendable unless they're part of his little family.
And I'm entirely certain you won't be making it into that little exclusive group.

Heh, okay okay, I get it. I'm used to clients using their lunch hour to see me; not many schedule me so late at night. I guess it's better you do that than not have work at all.

I think he was just calling you a terrifying creature because you two don't get along so well. He said you had rabies -- so you can see that he was just joking.

I hope you don't feel expendable. I mean... Hector's seen you a lot, right? I doubt he feels that you're unimportant like that.

You work for shorter periods of time though, most of what I do requires the entire evening and people don't want to devote a day they need to be seen other places to it.

I'm mostly certain I don't have rabies, or anything else; I am careful about these things.
To be fair I don't make much effort to get along with him or not, I mostly just ignore him because I find him tedious to deal with.
And why are you concerned if I have rabies, I assure you I do not want to do anything unsavory with your playmate.
I may know people that do, but said people are...ridiculous so it's hardly any threat.

Well, Hector has his motives and his goals; there's no getting around that fact, he's rather dedicated to the life he leads.
As I knew that from the start I was also aware that it would be the case.

That makes sense.

Yeah, I know; I figured you didn't want to do anything with him. I guess I just wish you two would get along more.

That sounds so depressing. He has to be more of a person than just... his role in the cult, or whatever it is.
