I went to shul Saturday for a fairly short visit. The shul is in the midst of a facilities upgrade, with air conditioning being installed. Kiddush was held in the sanctuary, after the potted trees that formed the mechitza were duly moved in front of the ark for decorum. Other than that, I had a nice, restful Sabbath. I found myself staying up late Saturday night reading the second Harry Potter book, getting almost to the end before I had to put it down.
Sunday morning I hit the ground running, more or less literally. I took vitals, finished Potter (great book, but those boys sure spent a lot of time in the girls' bathroom!), said morning prayers, set up a Signup Genius for volunteers at the Jamboree next weekend, and managed to squeeze in a run before going up to Safeway for an early-morning round of grocery shopping. I followed on with picking up a few things at Trader Joe's when it opened at 8, and filled the gas tank.
After that, a hasty breakfast, and I was on my way to the County Fair. I got there early and set up the signs outside of the booth; our County Chair called just after I arrived to advise me about the cash box. The other two volunteers on my shift arrived a short while later. The shift went well and we had a lot of positive response from the public. We sold a few Trump signs and T-shirts.
Two of our three relief volunteers were late or no-shows, but we had a very energetic and committed new volunteer who arrived early. I stayed almost an hour past my scheduled shift time at the Fair, but my day wasn't over yet, as I still had the conservative meetup to go to. I arrived a little bit late, so this time I found the group rather than them finding me. We had seven guests besides myself.
Today was a typical Monday at work, with broken laptops, forgotten passwords, and the usual assortment of stuff that keeps me employed.
