An elderly woman using a walker was trying to cross the long intersection on Lakewood Blvd, just outside the mall, and it was taking her much longer than the light. Cars were starting to drive past and around her.
At the far corner a truck making a right turn stopped (despite all the honking that caused), a young man got out of the passenger side and walked over to the old woman, who was now in the middle of the crosswalk, and escorted her safely the rest of the way across the street.
People might ignore a tiny, old white woman creeping slowly along but no one could claim not to see the tall, young black man walking beside her.
