1) I just installed Firefox 4, because it was supposedly 6 times quicker than the old Firefox (and honestly, self, you already have Google Chrome for that, so why?). Now, neither my delicious bookmarks add-on nor my DivX works anymore. *sulks*
2) I have been reading tons of webcomics lately and I thought I'd share. Here's a list of
my steadies
Sinfest - updates daily. Everyone should know this already. It's a humorous, light hearted (sometimes a bit serious) comic. HET.+
SMBC - updates daily. Nerdy, political, dark with no coherent story or continuous characters. HET or GEN mostly.+
wulffmorgenthaler - updates daily. Just... racy, kind of over the top humour. Often very funny, although sometimes just plain weird. Kinda NSFW. HET or GEN mostly.+
asofterworld - updates... I'm not sure, I just stop by regularly and there's lots of goodies. ++
Gunnerkrigg court - updates Monday, Wednesday and Friday. It's a comic book novel that's part teen story, part scifi, part fantasy and all awesome. It's my favourite webcomic ever. Mostly GEN. +++++
and my newfound loves:
OGLAF - Updates every Sunday. THIS! DROP EVERYTHING AND GO READ THIS! It has cumsprites - how can anyone possibly resist cumsprites??? I ship Ivan the apprentice/Ambassador Sandoval and Mistress/everyone. Basically they'll warn for anything that isn't NSFW. HET, SLASH, FEMMESLASH, BESTIALITY, W/E YOU CAN THINK OF. +++++
Teahouse - Updates every Wednesday, sometimes more often. Beautifully drawn story about a 19th century (I think) brothel. Lots and lots of gay sex. NSFW. SLASH AND HET. +++
Dreamless - Finished. Early 20th century with a boy and a girl on opposite sides of the world who share their lives through dreams. An intriguing concept that is well drawn. HET. ++
Zombiehunters - Updates every Thursday. In a post-apocalyptic world the already infected have the job of foraging abandoned areas and killing any zombies they come across. The story is too slowly paced for me and I personally like the earlier artwork better than the later, but this comic has the best zombies ever. If nothing else, read the
description of the different types of zombies - I especially loved the Basilisk, the Hunter and the Mercy (OMG, Mercy!) GEN AND MENTIONS OF HET. +
Sharkteeth - Updates around every Sunday. Gay sharks. No really, gay sharks. It's very manga with the whole uke/seme trope and there are scenes that some might find triggering, but it has intercrural! God, there's just too little intercrural in the world. NSFW. SLASH. +
Scandinavia and the world - updates whenever. Anthropomorphised countries (or stereotypes of countries). Humon also have more comics and art at
Humon Comics and
deviantart. She's very good at portraying different kinds of sexuality and love. SLASH, HET, FEMMESLASH, POLYGAMY, TENTACLES ETC. +++
Knights-errant - Updates... I'm not sure. Knights for hire. SLASH. +
And exes:
Metanoia - discontinued or just barely updating. AU with humans caught in a standstill war between the devil and God. Centers around Star, a former professional assassin with A REALLY ANGSTY PAST, YOU GUYS, and his partner, Alexander, who has an angel living in his body and looks a lot like the gorgeous, fellow prostitute, teenage boyfriend that he had to shoot. Worth reading if just for the first chapter (the prologue). Jesse Hajicek is also the author of
The God Eaters, a written novel that got published a couple of years ago. Link leads to the online version (just like the book, except you have to scroll instead of turning a page). I recced that novel before because I love it so damn much, it's my feel-good book. Both SLASH. +++++
Kagerou - on going, but I'm not sure how often. Young man with mental illness is transported to a fantasy world that he has to rescue from destruction at the same time as the manifestations of his other personalities cause trouble. Very dark at the same time as it is beautifully drawn and brightly coloured. The feel of it reminds me in part of the more disjointed sides of Sandman. Has BAMF female character, Cho, whom I love to death. The mental issues, the violence, the (attempted) sexual abuse and the comic over all may be triggering. GEN and a little bit of HET. ++++
Penny and Aggie - Updates every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Two rivaling high school girls who enjoy fighting each other and who might, some day in the future, fall in love (actually, looking at the comic now, it seems that 'some day in the future' is now). It was very fun and lovely for a long time, and then it took a weird turn when it changed artists and the author seemed to get some strange ideas. GEN, HET and FEMMESLASH. +
Friendly Hostility - Finished. Two best friends, one evil megalomaniac and one reporter with the most adorable family ever, in love. There's a spin-off comic,
Other People's Business, which I'm choosing to ignore because although these two characters are in it, they're just too different for my taste. Friendly Hostility, in its turn, was a spin-off of
Boy Meets Boy (a comic which bears all the marks of being the maker's first try at this media, it's fun to see her skill develop). Primarily SLASH with a dash ++
3) ...I forgot what I was going to say.
4) Oh yes! Glee (don't get me started on Glee - oh, show, how you have disappointed me yet still keep me coming back for more like a Heroes with dance and song routines, but no murderous Zachary Quinto!) had an episode where they were supposed to sing songs by underappreciated artists, and though few of them actually did, Tina chose a song by Swedish singer Lykke Li. This is the music I drive to work with ♥

I like the original best, TBH. But then, I would.
5) Happy May, everybody!
