HBP, JKR's interview
Okay. I'm tired and cranky and I just want to get this said now
because if I wait til morning I'll be in a better mood and I'm good and
pissed off right now.
I was in such a good mood before I checked LJ. *sigh*
So if you haven't read this interview yet. By all means, go ahead.
Now I don't care who you are or how famous you are. You do NOT mock 50% of your fan base. WTF Jo? "Delusional?" Don't tell me to re-read the books. I'm sorry that I didn't expect you to go the route of glaringly obvious. As it was SO OBVIOUS that Sirius was evil and Draco was letting the Basilisk out and Moody was good and every other incredibly clever plot twist you've given us. I thought you were writing a story rich with mythology and lore and symbolism. I guess that was a mistake, as you've planned to dumb Hermione down in HBP to make her suitable for Ron.
Melissa wasn't so bad in the interview, but Emerson was nothing short of a dickhead. Wow. I can't believe there are losers out there that admire and follow your site.
So as you can see, I am/was pretty pissed off about all this. People all over are dropping out of the fandom and telling Jo to "Fuck off!" in their livejournals and swearing to never give her another dime. I can't say I'm ready to join them. Despite the fact that I asked her not to break my heart. She did. She more or less called me an illiterate, delusional, fool and yeah, I'm hurt. I just expected better out of her. As a fan, I helped make her what she is and she returns the favor by slapping me in the face. Her rudeness is just shocking.
Then I read Lori's entry and I felt LOADS better. It's so easy to get wrapped up in the insanity that is shipping that you forget what these books are really about. If you're feeling down about JKR's recent cruelness, go have a gander at what Lori has to say and I think you'll feel better too. It's very heartening to get back to what these books are really about and how they've affected our lives. Yes, I'll be buying book 7. Yes, I'll be watching GoF. I ain't boycotting because I like these damn books to much.
