Okay, what an awesome ep! It gives me tingly feelings when I think about the finale cos if the eps are this good and we’re not pre-finale yet, then the end is just going to be WHOA.
Mohinder, Sylar and the List - Yay! We finally got a reason for why the whole list thing works. Donating blood is supposed to be altruistic, isn’t it? Betcha everyone Mohinder’s called is wondering why good karma came to bite them in the butt. It’s so nice of him to spread it around. Seriously, spot the connection already! You’re supposed to be smart!
Why do they have to kill off the characters that I like though? It’s so not fair. They introduce a really cool new hero and by the end of the ep they’ve been Sylared. Charlie was so cute and she and Hiro were so sweet together. Zane was geeky but cool. And Dale was really, really cool. Superwoman even! And of course, as per usual, Mohinder notices nothing. And he wants to help save the world. Methinks he could use a few lessons in observation from Claude. Hee. Claude chasing Mohinder around and walloping him with a big stick… that would liven up Mohinder’s storyline. As things stand, all you can do is pray that Mohinder avoids all the cool people on the list in the time before the inevitable ‘you killed my father!’ unveiling of Sylar’s evilness. Mohinder will be all wide-eyed and horrified and probably try to eliminate Sylar. Sylar will smirk and then get back at him for the whole ‘I have an idea to repress the specialness! Woohoo!’ plan. Yeah, he was real happy about that, wasn’t he?
Mohinder better watch out. An ability inhibitor didn’t work out so well in X-Men 3. And Sylar isn’t a poster boy for any kind of sanity. C’mon! How could he not notice the headaches and the acting weird and the total creepiness? Though I suppose that if a Hero meets Sylar now, all they gotta do is scream and instant migraine for the bad guy.
The bit where Sylar killed Dale was creepy in the extreme. The tick-tock sound and no footsteps? What power is that? Can Sylar teleport? Float? Make himself silent? A little bit of info here would be nice! Especially since, Adrian’s warning for ep 20 (I think) was ‘tick-tock’. Now, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that that is always heard when Sylar’s moving in for the kill. I conclude that a Hero is going to die by Sylar.
And afterwards, when Mohinder’s making with the hurling, Sylar just looks at the disfigured body and smirks! Hello sociopath! It’s so creepy and evil, but at least we didn’t get a graphic view of her skull cavity. The blood everywhere was more than enough. Has the guy no self-control? He couldn’t wait until later to wreak murder and mayhem?
Peter and Claude - Claude - what’s not to love? Though I would love to see Nathan’s face if he could see Peter and Claude on that rooftop. His face would just be ‘WTF?’
"Dig something out of that filing cabinet of yours....fly! Stop time! Paint me a pretty picture!" Claude is just so brill and the sniping between him and Peter = wonderful. I want Claude to be a regular! Kring? Are you listening? REGULAR!!!!
Anyway, Claude was just beating the crap out of Peter, but at least Peter found out that he has TK, which came in very handy when HRG and the Haitian showed up. I guess the Haitian neutralised Claude’s powers, but didn’t manage to do it to Peter, though it’s hard to tell if he just couldn’t or if he didn’t have time.
Okay, the flying sequence was super-cool. I loved it when Peter pushed Claude off the roof and Claude is all like ‘what are you doing?!’. You just knew that, inwardly, Peter was so paying him back. Though I have to wonder exactly how Peter supported Claude’s weight. Nathan couldn’t seem to fly with baggage at the start of the season, though maybe that was because he only had a grip on Peter’s hands.
I really do have to wonder what did HRG do to Claude to make him so scared? I really never took him for the fraidey-cat type, but he was really and truly freaked. It’s obvious that something really bad went down with HRG and his crew to make Claude apparently fake his own death. And whoa! Talk about scars. Claude’s makes Matt and Ted’s look like artwork. Nasty.
“I can't do this on my own. "
"Than I guess you go boom." - I was literally screaming ‘No! Don’t go!’ at the screen. Claude has swiftly become one of my fave characters on the show; he’s never boring. They can’t make him just walk out, especially since he seemed to be starting to like Peter earlier! Is Claude coming back? I want him back! I want to see him and Nathan in the same room, and both visible. Just imagine the sniping!
Nathan - Where was Nathan? He only got one small scene! While it was admittedly funny, I wanna see what’s up with our favourite wannabe congressman. Though I have the suspicion that the show will make up for it when Jessica pays him a little visit. On a bed, according to Pasdar. I’m sure Heidi will appreciate the visitor.
I did love Nathan’s lines. “Last time I saw my brother, he flew out of a window to get away from me. I doubt he’s going to come knocking on my door.” Seriously, Pasdar has such a comic touch. That was a perfect sarcastic delivery.
And who thinks that Nathan’s crack about the island is a bitch-slap against Lost for getting their own Mohinder?
Simone - ‘let’s hold a press conference’ - How can anybody be that stupid? HRG is on a hunting trip and Homeland Security are already taking people like Ted out of the FBI’s jurisdiction; exactly what does she think is going to happen? Nathan goes out and tells the world that he’s the Amazing Flying Petrelli and that his little brother is set to turn into some kind of nuclear bomb and wipe out NYC in two weeks time. And oh yeah, there are people like them everywhere and some are serial killers who like to steal people’s brains, one’s a radioactive man, and there are at least a few massively deranged heroes out there. I suppose to avoid the straightjacket; Nathan would then take Peter’s advice and fly around the Statue of Liberty only to be shot down by the US Air Force. Now, why didn’t I think of that?
Isaac, Peter and the death - Okay, Peter going dark side = hot.
Issac - "With just one bullet I can become a hero." - Not the usual recruitment line but maybe HRG is an idol of his. Strangely enough, killing your ex-girlfriend’s current boyfriend has never been the way back into her heart. Then again, killing said ex-girlfriend… even worse idea.
Isaac, Isaac, Isaac…. What are we to do with you? You join the figurative Dark Side, try to kill a man who has yet to commit the crime you’re supposed to be killing him for and yet, while he’s throwing paint cans at you with a certain Claude-like relish, all you can blather on about is ‘you stole my toy - oh I mean Simone!’. Not quite a good enough excuse there, my little friend. Here’s a tip for you, if you’re professing that you are, in fact, a good guy and that you’re trying to kill Peter to save the world, don’t start ruining the rhetoric with the not so justifiable excuses. Save the world = good. Jealousy = bad. Shooting the wrong person = inexcusable. Especially from a guy who can see into the future!
I freely admit that I actually did a happy dance when Isaac killed Simone. Yay! My least fave character is gone! The others are safe! Well, for now, but you know what I mean. Really though, I did dance. I kinda hit pause, got up, danced around a bit going ‘yay!’ and then tried - and failed - to feel remorseful. After the Paire fiasco, my trust in Kring has been restored. He did take the character with the least amount of storyline. Now, if he’ll only let my faves continue to survive. Please?
The Peter/Isaac fight scene was so cool! Dark!Peter was just great and what was that thing with Peter’s voice? Eden to the extreme or something nabbed from Sylar the Friendly Psychopath? He met them both before didn’t he? Now let’s just hope that Peter’s not going to collapse again after all his power expenditure over the past couple of hours or Isaac might shoot him. Or even worse, go all Emo over Simone. Jumping Isaac = good. Crying over Simone = don’t wanna see it! Plus, again, Isaac will probably try to kill him.
Does Simone’s shooting mean that Peter is going to re-emerge into the visible world though? Cos Ausellio said that though she’s shot, she doesn’t actually die until episode 18. I’m guessing we won’t see anything of Peter, Simone or Issac in next week’s ep and that it will be pretty much exclusively the Bennets, Ted and Matt and HRG’s backstory to make Simone’s death fit the March 5th date. It’s a pity cos while I’m interested in seeing how HRG came to be what he is and how he got Claire, I cannot wait for the fallout from Simone’s death! Let the action commence!
Hiro and Ando - Hiro actually reversed time. How cool is that?
And did anyone else get the feeling that there was something between Hope and Grumpy Guy? ‘Cos seriously, the way they were whaling on each other, they have either met each other like a million times before - and all the encounters were bad - or they’re divorced. Now, if only Mr and Mrs Smith could have been more like that firefight.
However, when Hiro said "life isn't a comic book," I was all like, ‘don’t give up Hiro!’. I know that future!Hiro is much more serious but I don’t think leaving Ando behind is a good idea. Hiro needs someone to talk to. Though I really, really hope he gets the sword soon, because Las Vegas is obviously the Place Where Bad Things Happen to Japanese Heroes. I’m really hoping that Ando goes after him too.
Claire, HRG and the Bennets - HRG has turned his wife’s brain to mush. Well done! Though, I do find it interesting that the Haitan’s mental abilities do leave such a side effect. How many times must Mrs Bennett have been memory-wiped to be brain-damaged?
And the scenes in the hospital! So cool! Well, HRG has found out that the Claire-bear remembers everything. Oh dear. The showdown was so perfect though. Hayden was brill and HRG was nearly crying! OMG! But seriously, GO CLAIRE!!!! Going up against him, knowing that he can make you forget everything … that is backbone. And then she didn’t even a flinch when the gunmen burst into her house. Apparently, there are some advantages to having a super-spy mutant-catcher mind-wiping dad after all.
Matt, Ted and Wireless - Okay, Wireless, our new hero, got very little screentime, which was a pity, but I have to say that I liked her. Nice, non-slutty and her no-nonsense ‘you can nuke them’ approach - great. You gotta like a girl who’s got her priorities in order.
However, I doubt the wisdom of hooking up with Teddybear. Ted’s got nothing left to lose, which makes him even more dangerous than Sylar at the moment. Does she really want him to take out the whole of Odessa as well?
Matt’s wife was her usual boring self. Is it just me or does Matt’s interest level jump by around 500% when he’s away from Jittery!Janice and in the company of other Heroes? He hands her a sparkling shiny piece of ice worth $40,000 and she gets mad with him? Seriously? WTF? He was cool in the last scenes with the Bennetts, though Ted definitely has the Unabomber look going on.
Speculation on the future - This could be totally off-base here but it’s just a theory that’s been running through my head since George Takei showed up. Hiro is focused on the sword, future!Hiro had a soul patch and everything, and Papa Nakamura used to tell Hiro tales about the Samurai Kensei. Well, Kring has pretty much said that Hiro will be in a different century at the start of season 2, right? Well, is it possible that Hiro is Kensei and that it actually is his sword? Wouldn’t that be so cool? I know it’s totally out of left field but the idea just won't stop bugging me.
