Wow. So my last post was dated 2007. It's been a while, to say the least. I don't recall why I stopped writing. Perhaps I hit a boring patch and had nothing to say, then forgot this was here.
2007. In 2007 I was in my fourth and last year of my zoology degree at Western. I miss Western. I never understood why people were so enamored with their alma maters until after I left. I also became a vegan somewhere in there. After I completed my bachelor in zoology, I moved on to a graduate certificate program in GIS at Fanshawe college, still in London. I couldn't give that city up. I miss it too. So I went there to see what they knew, then it was off to grad school. I was awarded a pretty prestigious scholarship to help me along the way. I almost went to McGill to pursue herpetology, and had a sudden last minute change of heart, and instead came to the University of Windsor to study Forensic Entomology. Pretty rad right? In that transition, I broke up with my boyfriend of three and a half years. It was a lot of change all at once; I was uprooting myself, and totally abandoning my former life. New school, new city, new people, newly single, fresh start.
So here am I. Single, in Windsor, a graduate student, studying the insects that colonize buried bodies. I have to say, as much as I hate Windsor, 2009 has been a good year so far. I've never had such an active social life, research is getting under way, and I am feeling more positive and motivated than ever. I have a lot to look forward to and a lot to be proud of.
I've been wanting to get back into blogging again for a while. I started a vegan science blog a while ago, supposed to be dedicated to the boy of knowledge surrounding veganism, but I am sad to say I don't seem to have much time to research for the posts I write. Needless to say, it hasn't been much of a creative outlet for me in the writing department, though I intend to keep at it, slowly but surely. But I still have LJ, and I intend to use this blog as my all purpose blog, a collection of my opinions, culinary adventures, rants, raves, and whatever else can be embodied in written form.
