Title: Sock-Footed Queen

A laughing beauty on the steps of the library,
She grins and rises on one sock foot,
the other shoe scraping loud on concrete
But not as loud as her laugh.

I hold the car door as she gets in,
A grinning chaufer to her grace, the jello-shot princess.
She offers me one, a plastic cup filled with bright blue gel
but not as bright as her smile.

She turns up the music, loud classical guitar
and puts her mismatched feet up on the dash
We roll the windows down as we roll through the city,
Almost as wild as the summer wind.
