Yes to all of that! And you put into words things that I liked very much, but I only got subconsciously while watching the epi (like how Amara was portrayed with so much depth or the importance of the Cas and Metatron scene). I enjoyed the epi so much. And I think the biggest reason why is that it had so many pay offs, like you say. Robert Berens' writing is pretty damn amazing! He ties up all those little loose ends and makes the whole experience rewarding
( ... )
I heard that! I sort of dismissed it because I wasn't *sure* that's what I heard, and on the surface I couldn't figure why either Lucifer or Michael would be calling Dean, and then it got lost in all the other episode reaction. But thanks for bringing it up. Glad I didn't just imagine it.
*nods* and *nods* I will have to go back and listen for the "Dean". I didn't catch it when I first watched it. I've seen it mentioned elsewhere though.
The cage was a complete surprise! I never thought about it being an actual cage - rather an infinite space. But looking at that made me so scared for Sam. Imagine being trapped in there with Lucifer and Michael/Adam. :(((
I wish Berens could write all the episodes to be honest - or at least consult on all the writing. He brings a consistency that some episodes lack.
But yay! Feeling more positive about things I gotta say,
About the cage...those fingers looked to me to be almost childlike, no signs of blood or torture (just me?) I didn't hear the faint "Dean" at the end but maybe I should turn the volume way up to catch it lol.
This epi moved things a long quite a bit. It was interesting and leaves the door open for lots of twists and turns for the boys. I'm actually getting a little excited again for show if this continues.
ngl if they do go there with Sam's visions/flashbacks from the cage, my biggest want is for Sam to call for Dean like Dean did for Sam when he was in Hell, long and loud!
