Some TV stuff...(spoilers for everything!!)

Teen Wolf is back and is as confusing as ever. I really enjoyed last season - mostly because Dylan O'Brien was pretty awesome (and pretty!) playing evil!Stiles and confused, hallucinating!Stiles etc etc. It also had one of my favourite broment hugs of all time! ALL time! (except maybe some Starsky and Hutch ones. And nope...S&D haven't done this kind...yet!)

Not gonna lie. If it wasn't for Scott and Stiles friendship there would be very little keeping me stuck on this show. It's just such and honest and easy relationship. I also love Stiles' dad and Scott's mum. Most of the time I have no idea what's going on - I just go along with it all, not trying to work it out. I mean - what's even going on this season? Derek was de-aged for...why? And what's with Kate? And we have a new "group" and there's been no mention of poor Allison. It's like she never even existed. It's weird to me that I never really liked Allison and now she's gone I kinda miss her...WTHell?! There are times I love Lydia and then there are times I can't even figure her character out (super smart and then ditzy. I know the ditzy is an act, but then it's kinda not...) So, I'm not even going to try. Thank god I'm not fannish about this show because I am pretty damn sure it would drive me nuts!

I love this show. SO MUCH! It's such a visually sumptuous show. I love the psychology and the relationships and the creepiness and the sheer wrong-ness of it all. I adored the last season. The acting was fantastic - from all the characters (and how cool to see "Ava"!).

Hubby and I had a heated discussion about the finale. He was disappointed (annoyed they all came in one by one to be attacked) but I felt like I "got it" (though I have no idea where Abigail had been hiding all this time. In Hannibal's place?). I felt it was all about seduction. Hannibal had seduced all of the people he ended up killing (? - not sure who will actually end up really dead...). It's mentioned in the course of the show and at the end it felt like it all came together. Just like the way he presents his food. It's beautifully seductive, but underneath it all we know there's pure horror. They all knew he's "evil" but are captivated by him. I have nothing but praise for this show.

(I also read this interesting article on the gay subtext of the show vs queerbaiting. The notion of queerbaiting interests me and it's a discussion I've been wanting to have. I feel I'm not qualified to hold it though as I'm not entirely sure I understand the politics of it. Or that I'm in a position to claim it exists or not. I like this article though because it talks about seduction and the use of subtext).

Is it too much to say that his show is truly revolutionary? It certainly feels like it. To have a show with not only one but a HEAP of awesome female characters as the leads feels like something we just don't get to see everyday. Add to that, the fact that it's prepare to address issues of ownership of women's bodies (and WOW - the way it gets to the heart of that matter <3) AND have a broad range of sexual representations SO SO WONDERFUL! It's also an intriguing mystery and I can't wait to get to the bottom of it all. I also loved the finale - it was satisfying and quite unexpected. Can't wait for the next season to begin.

Another awesome show! I love how much money seems to be thrown at some TV shows these days. The look is so delicious. It's feels so sexy and yet has an underlying horror that gives it an edge. It's almost cheesy - but not quite (just like a "penny dreadful" I suspect). It's so difficult to explain if you haven't watched it. I desperately want Sam and Dean to time travel and go and tell them a thing or two about hunting vamps and demons. The thing I love most is its mesh of Victorian (gothic) horror literary classics (I have completely fallen for Dorian Gray. Perfect casting because...yep! *swoons elegantly*)

I will say though that there was one episode that I found extremely difficult to watch (1.05). Anything dealing with the torture in old asylums just...*shivers*...that was extremely hard going. Though I did love that we got Vanessa's backstory. I love all the characters (and wow bi-sexual lead male) and I am intrigued by just what the hell is going on! I'm waiting now for Billie Piper's character to die and be resurrected as The Monster's Bride. That's purely speculation of course - but I feel like that might happen. (btw - I haven't watched ep 8 yet - no spoilers...). Totally hooked!

I think GoT is the most expensive TV show ever produced (?). I think I read that somewhere... (too lazy to fact check at the moment). I certainly know the battle scene in the penultimate episode in S4 was the most expensive episode ever for GoT ($8M). I'm pretty damn hooked on this show too. I've fallen in love with many of the characters and I adore the story telling. I know (apparently) everyone dies but I don't care. I don't know how they die so I can watch for that. Also, I have to say that Peter Dinklage's performance as Tyrion this season was stunning. There were moments that he brought me to tears. And Sansa!! Finally coming into her own. Joffery's death was HIGHLY satisfying and I loved Oberyn (though he died rather stupidly!).

I know there's so much more to say about all of those shows, but I thought I better keep it short. ;)

Ummm..what else? When we've had enough of the heaviness of the above shows we watch Better Off Ted (introduced to me recently) and have a laugh. Portia de Rossi's character (Veronica) is my FAV! She is so GREAT! (I actually had no idea she was so wonderful. Shame, as she's an Aussie export and I never realised her talent). Any show that mocks US corporations (and is completely nerdy) is a winner in my books.

And White Collar is another easy watching, go-to show when the rest gets too heavy. Great relationships without being overly angsty. And kinda silly. :)

Oh and The Musketeers is on my re-watch when I'm feeling like a night cuddling up on the sofa show. So much pretty and sword fights and comfortable cliches that it leaves me just going..."awwwww".

Thanks TV!
