...how many of you on my list have seen the good old zombie/undead/living dead movies of the late-60's, 70's and 80's ( Read more... )

Braindead was made in 1992, therefore it falls outside the golden age of zombie movies. It is, however, quite a little masterpiece. Who can forget memorable quotes such as: "I kick arse for the Looord!"

Grandiose stuff.

Evil Dead movies. Well, another holy trinity of horror. I guess we can safely say that Sam Raimi influenced Peter Jackson in his earlier horror movies - therefore without Evil Dead, there might not have been LOTR movies as we know them. I wasn't sure if I should add the Evil Dead movies though, because the "Deadites" are only possessed - there is still the undead army in the third one, however...

P.S. Noticed the scene, in The Two Towers, when Grima is watching Saruman prepare the bombs, he comes too close to them with his candle (hoping to see more clearly)? What does Saruman do? Pushes Grima back with a "you dumbass" look in his face. Noticed how it is similar to the scene in Army of Darkness, when Ash is preparing the explosives, the Wiseman wants to put one explosive pack over the candle to see it more clearly??? What does Ash do? Pushes the Wiseman back with a "you dumbass" look in his face. The scene in TTT almost appears like a spoof of the scene in AOD. Oh well... Maybe I read too much into the Sam Raimi/Peter Jackson connection.

Haha, well, Braindead was still made after the 80's, and Deadites are still possessed people. So there.

If it's any consolation, Braindead is set in the 50's :P

It is one of the best zombie movies ever, though. =P
