And his leading question will be too suspicious if she suddenly switches to a filter. There's a pause before her next reply as she tries to figure out how to fix this.

When she does reply, it's on purpose that she does not respond to the offer of trading stories. If he wants it, he'll have to make this a more secure convo. ]

I met some dead people! I guess it got me curious.
8esides, one of those dead people is from my own universe. Can't a girl ask questions without getting jumped on???????? Jeez!

None of it works. None of it feels right. And the more she thinks about it, the more the bitterness rises like bile in her throat.

When she finally does reply, it's by audio, and her bitterness is so thick you could cut it with a knife. ]

I didn't know. My "friends" told me. [ The inflection of her voice around friends - disdainful but deeply unhappy - imply the quotes for her. ]

She's quiet for another moment. ] We were just supposed to be rivals. Friendly rivals, I guess? At least, I thought we were. But she became convinced my plan to save all of us would get us killed instead, and killed me before I could go through with it.

I haven't gotten there yet. But a bunch of my f-- ... most of the other trolls seem to know. They must come from sometime after that point on the alpha timeline. I think they're glad I died. In fact, I know they are. Now the stupid spidertroll can't cause any more problems or ruin things or be mean to them ever again! I bet they celebrated once I was dead for good.
