It's just that I don't get why we have powers when this letter says nothing about using them. Our powers have to mean something.
[She looks irritated as she peruses the same words over and over.]
That's true. They've taken away things from us only to give us different powers in their place. It's... strange. And the powers seem to depend on which House you've been placed into.
[ he picks up a paper, scribbling a quick sketch of a shape on to it... only for it to suddenly project from the paper into reality. ]
It's... a neat trick, but I'm not sure what purpose it serves either. What about you?
If we're not all dead, then I think a lot of people here were chosen at random. Hikari's my best friend, but she's just a regular girl! Not an Eva pilot, like me. And other people I've met obviously have military backgrounds. Well, except for this one little girl, and I guess you don't look so special. What did you do before?
[ so this girl is friends with hikari? he's met her too, when he thinks about it. ]

I don't think there's any reasoning behind why we were brought here. They just needed people. I guess a world needs a little bit of everything...
Whatever. Think about it, we're not meant to populate their little city. We're meant to secure the "fate of all existence" or whatever. And since we have powers now, people like you and Hikari and your cousin aren't just normal people anymore.
[Asuka stops for a second, as if reconsidering something.]
Wait, you don't know what Evas are? [She gets up and starts walking.] What about the First or Second Impact?
But the god I talked to told me it was enough for us to just live here for now. [ shrug. ] I don't know how that helps, but that's all they want at the moment. [ his powers, huh? they feel more like a downgrade than an upgrade, but he does agree. ] We do have powers... my cousin too... [ but does that mean nanako is supposed to fight? ] But she's only seven. I can't let her do anything dangerous.
[ a frown at the mere thought. ]
I don't. [ a shake of the head. ] Impact... does that have something to do with sports?

[She messes with her bracelet a little bit. The jewel on it is vaguely green, and it seems a little more apparent than it used to be.]
I wish it wasn't so dim here. A part of me still wonders if this is the afterlife.
