I had a great experience yesterday. I teach at a public high school so Valentine's Day is usually a horrible day - there are giant stuffed animals, chocolate, and flowers everywhere and I am aromantic as well as asexual, so I find it all a bit grating ( Read more... )

That is a really nice story. It is nice to feel respected and welcomed, no matter what. I am happy for you.

I spent much of Valentines Day cleaning up after exploding chocolate, in a desperate fermentation experiment. I realise these are somehow fertility symbols, which is ironic, but not as difficult as was the mess I had to deal with.

Sometimes reality is the best priority.

And gossip or innuendo or judgment or bias are not.

It's good to hear that this group was so respectful and engaged in a discussion about asexuality. This could have gone so many other ways and it is refreshing to hear of such a circumstance going well.
