I'm not really one for memes. But I loooove books, as you probably know, and I love lists almost as much, and I also am procrastinating about studying for my big six-book passage analysis test, so...

Here ya go )

Canticle for Liebowitz is about history repeating itself, only more and more severely; so it goes through subsequently darker dark ages and continually more enlightened renessiances until it hits a dark age so terrible that it wipes out mankind. It's an interesting study, but a very weird book.

Vonnegut is totally great, did you hear that he was recently sueing the tobacco companies, because (despite what the warnings said on their labels) smoking hadn't killed him yet. He's world-weary, I think, but since both his sister and his son killed themselves, I think he really wants something other than himself to kill him.

That is, in fact, the first picture I have ever seen of Camus. Wow, he's a wicked cool looking guy. The Plague was the first thing I read of his, and I just loved the symbolism for the Nazis spreading through France. He used to write for an underground resistance paper while it was going on. And I love (however disagree with) his absurdism. Sort of like Vonnegut, only Vonnegut seems to take real delight in the pointlessness of it all, whereas Camus, probably being a more humane person, is saddened by it.

And I know you love the Beatles... but still.... TRAITOR!
