Robert Jordan (the author of the "Wheel of Time" series) has been diagnosed with amyloidosis. It's a very rare blood disorder involving misshappen or misfolded protiens in your body. He's going to the Mayo Center for treatment, but it's still horrible news. I am very sorry to hear there, especially becuase the "Wheel of Time" was famous for streching on seemingly forever and he recently announced that the 12th book would be the last. For the sake of all the fans of the series, I hope that this does not prevent him from finishing his epic saga in proper form.
