This quiz wasn't exactly fair because I listen to a lot of smaller indie groups. And perhaps I made some of the lyrics selections too short or too arcane. That said, if phoenix_talon had read this I bet he would have guessed the first one.
For people who don't know them, I thoroughly recommend The Duhks (
http://www.duhks.com). The Lascivious Biddies (
www.biddyinfo.com), and Heather Dale (
www.heatherdale.com). The Duhks are a new group out of Canada that does a mix of folk, celtic and rock. The Lascivious Biddies are a female quartet that does a great mix of cocktail pop/jass/folk. They have a podcast at
www.biddyblog.com where they showcase their music. Heather Dale does celtic/folk music and reminds me a bit of Loreena McKennit.
Another group you've probably never heard of that I love is a filk group out of Toronto called "Urban Tapestry", 3 ladies singing silly songs about sci-fi and fantasy and fun. Their website is
www.electricpenguin.com/urbantapestry/ and you can download some of their songs for free at
www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=83292 Enjoy!
