Even though this is only the second week of the semester, I'm already planning to leave right after classes on Thursday to go home. Because this semester is going to be JUST like the last two: I'm NEVER going to be here on the weekends. For the reasoning behind this, please refer to my previous entry.
I have a job at the school store, so that should be entertaining (we'll see how long I last).
As I was leaving my newspaper meeting last night (I'm running for editor of Off Print--cross your fingers for me), I ended up in the middle of the audience of that White/White performance in the Case Gallery where three naked guys were mushing their painted torsos onto the wall. While I'm sure there was some deep and completely esoteric meaning behind this, I was struck by how everything else going on in the room seemed to be totally unrelated to Julia's art. People were talking about their home lives, Alcoholics Anonymous, the Lucas Samaras exhibit at the Whitney a few years ago. One guy was texting furiously on his Sidekick. And it struck me: we all live at the center of our own universes. Everyone's reality is just themselves--the stars--and a supporting cast, some lesser satellites. Perhaps this is why LiveJournal is so popular ;)
We're whole solar systems, walking around campus, the mall, the streets.
Why don't we take up more space?
the world revolves around...
