So, I've been writing for a competition called LJ Idol. It started in March, and was sudden-death elimination format. Each week we were given a prompt, and had less than a week to create a short story based on it. Then everyone voted, and the entries with the fewest votes were eliminated. It was all anonymous until the very end, so your writing had to be consistently good every week for you to be able to make it through every round.
When I entered, I looked at the calibre of the writers in the competition and thought, "I'll do well to make top ten." Which was true. But, to my great surprise and delight, I came in third!
I also wrote every single week, so I got an award for that.
Hooray for the confidence boost!
Also, now that the contest is over, I can finally share my stories with you...
