Title: Same Song, Different Verse

Summary: 5x3 SPOILERS. He tries not to think of those early days at Stanford, but he remembers everything. Most vividly, he remembers Jess.
A/N: Written for my spn_30snapshots table. Part of the San Andreas verse, sort of a sequel to the dizzy height of a jet set life.

Okay, hurry up and write the next one because this is just too sad!! *weeps* It really does capture the fear in Sam that no matter what he does that circumstances or some other mistake on his part will mean his doom, which is what Lucifer had to have picked up on when he carefully chose the despairing hopelessness of what Lucifer's version of Jess would say to Sam as (s)he tried to convince him to give up. It comforts me no end to think that the real Jess in my head the way I see her would never say there was no hope. This is sad and lovely.

Thank you very, very much. The scenes with Jess in this episode absolutely made me ache for Sam. I'd always hoped that his reunion with Jess would be happy, or at least bring him some closure. This did just the opposite.
