She becomes embroiled in the princes' struggle for the throne and is torn between her love for Yin Si, the eighth prince, and Yin Zhen, the fourth prince and future Emperor Yong Zheng. Caught in the crossfire of political intrigue, her wit and historical knowledge serves her well in her bid to stay alive as she begins to realize that true history is much darker and uglier than books portray.

Review:
The story is similiar to Bu Bu Xin Jin - the main girl travels through time to Qing dynasty and falls in love with prince and eventually comes back home to find her prince charming at home - happy ending....but unlike the original which had the novel source and history back up here it is more of a spin off and moves through the story in a comical and easy going way.
The heroine is a spunky girl that survives making  mistakes all the time and it makes the story a lot more enjoying.  So the beginning is funny the middle is intriguing and the end is surprising. After seeing BBXJ it was expected to end in sad way but they make one hundred turn and give us happy ending that I wanted.
There is a second season that I didn't see yet.
I liked through the series - Consort Xi, Consort De, the emperor KangXi, the princes.
The consorts were smart and sly but they wanted to survive in the palace with its rules so they chose the way to do it and the only one to blame here is the emperor and the palace rules. Well women can fight in awful ways so the fool here is only one.
I was glad to see that LQC chose the eight prince and not the forth prince. The fourth chose the country so had to stay there and rule while the eigth prince was more caring and understanding her so he deserved happy ending.
I enjoyed the series, especially after sad ending, it was a good option to cheer me up and show a different angle to to the story.
The story had its flaws but it was light and easy so it served the purpose of the series.
