I haven't posted one of these since May. Oops. So these'll be short
28) Hummingbird House - Patricia Henley
Human rights, Guatemala, should have been right up my alley but I was unimpressed.
29) Suite Francaise - Irene Nemirovsky
First 2 parts of a planned 5 part book about life in occupied France in WWII--unfortunately the author died in a concentration camp before she got to finish it. What was there was excellent though.
30) Rescue - Elizabeth Richards
Bleagh. This was part of a bag of books for cheap at the library book sale. It sucked.
31) Angel Rock - Darren Williams
Also part of the bag of books. Much better than the previous entry, but the ending was a little overdone.
32) The Undomestic Goddess - Sophie Kinsella
Absolute fluff. Take that as you wish.
33) Digging to America - Anne Tyler
About two families who each adopt a baby from Korea. Much better than the last Anne Tyler I read. Digs into cultural differences and boundary issues.
34) Predator - Patricia Cornwall
I've already forgotten the plot of this one. There were dead people and intrigue and unbelievable coincidences as usual.
35) The Weight of Water - Anita Shreve
Two parallel stories about murders in a small fishing community 100 years ago and the crumbling marriage of the photographer sent to get pictures for an article about the murders. Both stories held my interest fairly well.
36) The Stolen Child - Keith Donohue
Excellent airplane reading. Henry Day is stolen by changelings and replaced with one of them. He tries to remember who he was while his replacement tries to adapt to life as Henry and remember the family he was originally stolen from.
Absolutely Recomended: 29, 33, 36
Recommended with reservation (if you like that kind of thing): 32, 35
