Never Let Me Go

3) Never Let Me Go - Kazuo Ishiguro
This was another book that turned up on a lot of end of year lists. The author also wrote Remains of the Day which I've not read, but did like the movie and have heard good things about, so I decided to try his latest book. This book is a completely different setting than Remains of the Day with an almost, but not quite, sci-fi edge. He does an amazing job of conveying a society that is almost exactly like our, but has just enough subtle difference to raise red flags. It's a character driven book on it's most obvious face-but with undercurrents about society and sacrifice and bioethics underneath that. To sum: I quite liked it.
