Second Fragment

She remembers.

The world now is what the world has always been for the longest time. It is unchanging, identical from one island to another, flat and lifeless. Atop her mount - a crimson dragon with wings that sent gales at every beat - the gray, desolate expanse of her kingdom stretched below her. The eastern and western isles are hers, just as the north and south are Dameon's. Thais, beyond the horizon, is also under her dominion upon her special request.  The seas, steely black and always raging, rise to brush the clawed feet of her steed.

She holds tighter to her saddle, the thrill rushing, pulsing beneath her skin, and when the ground she had walked on all her life shrinks beneath her, she lets out a shout of exhilaration. Forests blur past, villages, Sedona and the mountains of her sweet, peaceful home, a brief snatch of apples' scent, and then there is the sea, the endless, calm expanse of it-

Ahriman's Castle rises from the horizon, the highest point in the desert island, an ominous collection of towers and glowing rock spires. She looks, and feels nothing. Ahriman calls it her home, their home, hers and Dameon's.

Home. The word has a peculiarity to it that she couldn't quite place. "Home." She says the word aloud, against the whipping wind and the howl of the restless seas. She feels nothing. "Home." Dameon is waiting for her there. Dameon, her love. "Dameon." She feels nothing.

The flock of winged demons which always ring the turrets of the castle makes way for her. She alights on one of the rooftops, jumps off her saddle. Her demon-generals, ever obliging to please her lest their demise, greet her with barely concealed terror. She ignores them. She walks away, to where she doesn't know. They are quiet.

She feels nothing.

A/N: It will *definitely* be longer next chapter. A eeny-weeny bit longer, that is. XD
