a peek into my nutty thought process

so somehow i got this half-baked idea into my head to train for a biathlon. that's like a triathlon, but without the swimming. i don't like swimming. i could do the bike part, and the running would be fun, right? and the transition from running to biking and biking to running would be fun, too.

after some internet research, i learned that it's called a DUathlon (biathlon is that skiing and shooting targets thing in the olympics -- uh, no thanks :D ), and actually, i don't want a coach, or to join some hoity-toity club, or even to enter a race (there's a duathlon in the summer on the toronto islands) because i'd forgotten that i don't like racing and competition. i also don't feel like getting a fancy racing bike. i also forgot that i can't really run. :D so i thought maybe i should just focus on improving running.

so i punched in "5k training plans" into google i got this:
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
so that's what i'm going to do! (after some modification; i don't want to alternate 60 sec and 90 sec of walking/running; i'd rather do 5 minutes of each.)

so i didn't really want to do a biathlon/duathlon... i just wanted a low-key, gradual program to improve my cardio and get back on track with exercise because i haven't been really doing it lately. then maybe i'll enter a 5k fundraiser or something. :D
