Name: Warren Kenneth Worthington III aka Angel aka Archangel aka a million other aliases
Canon Point: Uncanny X-Force #1
History:
Marvel WikiPersonality:
Warren is a man of many different shades. On the outside he comes across as very stuck up and arrogant; his self esteem was always very high growing up and he was an over achiever. Excellent athleticism, popularity, news tabloids, red carpet treatment, and his family’s wealth had always been a huge factor in his show off attitude and confident social skills. Warren's always been a hit with the ladies and knows it. Flaunting his confidence is not an issue. He had many friends as a child, always seen as one of the popular kids in school--at least until his wings began to sprout. However, his abilities were eventually seen as a blessing of sorts, and he always tried to find a way to use them for the greater good (like rescuing people from fires, stopping petty crimes on the streets, sneaking out of bed at night to patrol, etc).
However, after getting his wings amputated and replaced with his metallic ones, Warren’s angry and temperamental side became more dominating to his personality; his fuse was very short and he had the tendency to brood often. Though he was severely depressed and enraged at the outer appearance he was given, he did not lose the will and strive to succeed. He continued to work very hard to build Worthington Industries and kept his business savvy mind very focused on his enterprise. Warren is very driven with his work, especially as a form of distraction from his heroing life. It took many years for him to start healing and acting like his old self again.
However, Warren's brooding and temper problems got worse after the attack by Wolfsbane and the emergence of his split personality. He can fly off the handle at any given moment, and is unpredictable enough to attack his own teammates if he is too far gone (in his Death persona, of course, which brings us to that...)
The Death persona is the result of a DNA upheaval (thanks, Celestial Death seed) and brainwashing programming based around a 'survival of the fittest' attitude. He is chaotic and bloodthirsty. Mutants always take precedence over humans. He is fearless, rash, and completely insane. If Warren is feeling severe anger, rage, or fear this will trigger off the Death persona. Apocalypse being in his vicinity will trigger off the Death persona. Warren can try and fight this as much as he wants (and he does), but it doesn't always go his way. Death's psyche is just as strong, if not stronger, that Warren's normal one.
In short, Death is to Warren currently just about as similar as the Hulk is to Bruce Banner. He's an alter ego and an uncontrolled enigma which affects his personality greatly. Since he will be taken from before Fantomex kills Kid Apocalypse, there will be no descending or Apocalypse-like qualities coming out in his Death persona. Just madness, rage, and instability.
Skills | Powers: - Archangel’s body is built much like a bird; his physiology is meant to support aerodynamics and flight. His bones are hollow (making him much lighter than he looks) and his metabolism is so enhanced that his body fat composition is zero percent. With essentially no fat and slender bones, his body has a bigger muscle composition that is supported by his peak strength, speed, reflexes, durability, and agility. Physically, Warren is a very obvious mutant; he has two massive feathered wings spanning from the scapulae in his back. The entire span of these wings is sixteen feet between each tip. Warren is also blessed with enhanced eyesight and stronger ocular muscles to withstand the speed and consequences of high speed flight, as well as enhanced hearing to pick up on sounds going on down on the ground.
- Warren also has a superhuman sense of direction and can always pinpoint true north with no effort.
- He has a regenerative healing factor. This works both personally, and as a way to heal others with blood-to-blood contact with someone of the same blood type.
- Transmutation. As Death, his wings are composed of a near indestructible techno-organic metal. These wings are comprised of 'feathers' so sharp that they can be used as...well basically, throwing knives that he calls flechettes. These are laced with a natural paralyzing agents. In this form, his durability is so enhanced that he can easily survive gunshots, explosions, being severely burned, and wing amputations. In addition to the TO wings, he also has retractable talons made up of the same material. His speed is enhanced enough to break the sound barrier.
It should be noted that in this form and with these powers, Warren has a lot less control both mentally and physically. It is a great weakness for him while engaged in battle.
- Death sense. In his Horseman form, Warren has the ability to sense the dead if they are around him. That includes zombies (as shown in the Necrosha event).
First Person Sample: [From another game; video post]
How's everyone hanging in there? I know things are getting a bit crazy, so I thought it would be a good idea to check in with everyone and make sure no one's gotten hurt.
[He pauses for a moment, and then pans the camera around to the new front gate of the Import Safe House in Manhattan. There is a massive line of picketers and people shouting obscenities at him outside of it. A small group of three people have a big black sign with red letters that reads: 'Demons shall not wear the disguise of angels.' Warren seems to take all of this in stride, though, as this is pretty much the Story of His Life back home.]
They haven't tried to bust through here yet, but I wouldn't put it past them. But just to toss this out there...we aren't really seeing any of this out in Truth or Consequences. In fact, it's been very eerily quiet. Even all my human employees are still coming to work everyday like it's no big thing.
I guess what I'm saying is that there's a safe zone out in New Mexico. As boring as it is, it's probably pretty safe to say that it's the best place to be if you aren't feeling too hot being out in the other two cities. If you are interested in coming out, I can hook you up with somewhere to stay. All the usual good stuff, you guys know where to find me.
Stay safe.
Third Person Sample: [Also from another game.]
As Warren neared the end of his flight and the now familiar lights and shapes of the night-time landscape of Truth or Consequences came into sight, he couldn't help but start praying that Sollux had found something for them. This poor girl had endured so much; not only had she had to go through the horrifying motions of manifesting her mutant powers and being the target of harassment from her entire town, but was then further transformed with Sollux's DNA.
That made this mission even more personal for both Warren and Sollux. All of these kids, these mutant kids, were being victimized using import DNA. Their DNA. This reminded Warren of so many things from back home: Sinister and his Marauders, Hodge and the Right, Apocalypse, the Purifiers, Weapon Plus, Weapon X, Bastion and Operation Zero Tolerance...just so many instances of innocent mutants being violated and destroyed for things that they couldn't help. If this place ended up being just like home, Warren wasn't quite so sure how he would be able to handle that, if he could at all.
Nearing Sollux's place now, Warren pushed his thoughts aside to focus on the task at hand, and landed gently down outside the troll's door. He gave a quick but firm knock, and hoped that Sollux wouldn't keep him waiting too long.
[I've got a sample
here as well of how I usually play the dueling personalities. It's just rather long and wouldn't fit in a comment!]
