Last weekend was Notting Hill carnival. I try to go as often as possible because its fun and gets me out the house, plus its very good for my photography. Last year was my first attempt at carnival photography; it did not go so well. Most of my images were blurred from failing to freeze the movement others were under exposed and most just lacked appeal with no clear subject.
This year I tried to right these mistakes. I wore flat comfortable shoes. I pushed and shoved my way to the front. I found a handbag big enough for all my gear plus phone keys, umbrella etc but not screaming steal me like a traditional photography bag. But most importantly I took my fastest lens, and isolated single subjects with a wide aperture rather than going for general street shots. And it let my camera do some of the work so I had time to capture the moment; I still used manual mode but I let the camera chose a ISO to match my settings because the light level fluctuated a lot.
I found it hard to drag myself out the house, let alone drag myself all the way to London, this whole month off I've had to have fun I've just sat indoors doing nothing. I hate myself for this but its something I'm doomed to repeat over and over unless I find a way to break free and force myself to do stuff. But I did force myself out for this and it was worth it. I cant say I completely relaxed and had fun because its like I've somehow forgotten how, but it was nice and better than sitting in doors plus I have some pictures I'm proud of and that's worth a lot. Here are a few pictures.
For some reason my techo fail is extending to deleting part of my post which I can't be asked to repeat but in short was still no job news, I hate myself for doing nothing but otherwise life is good and I am content. Also I have plans to do shit tonight fandom things because I'm feeling the Andromeda love. And all my website need updating and photos uploading to my google plus which I use for photography and this site
http://www.ephotozine.com/user/clairewilliams-220092 where there are more photos. Techo fail also on links and cuts so sorry.
