Writer's Block: Memo to Myself

Aug 10, 2009 20:27

I hesitant to give my younger self any advise because I believe who I am now is because of my past experiences both good and bad so i'm hesitant to change anything, however I have already changed in ways I don't like, so maybe it would be for the best.

I guess the big one is this: I would like to tell me of 6 or 7 years ago not to try struggle on in my nursing carer but admit that I am struggling with stress and need help. Maybe I'd be richer and happier now if I'd done that rather than ignored the problem till it forced me to quit.

I'd tell the me who just left university not to lose track of her friends because one day she'll miss them

I'd tell me of a few years back to look at her tax code on her wage slips and get her tax sorted out before her bills and bank charges mount up leaving her in more debt than she can handle.

I'd tell me of just last year to vist my friend in jail more, I only just realised how little I visit when he asked if Id see him again before Christmas his jail was a 20 minutes away till they moved him last month.

Those are the main ones I guess, part of me is tempted to tell teenage me not to go into nursing at at all because events that happened right at the start before I even left university are the ones that have caused the most woe in my life but I cant risk changing that, I learn't so much from my nursing career, a lot of it positive. Some of my traits that I most like about myself are things that I have taken from my nursing carer so no matter how much grief it would save me and how much more conifident I might be if I'd never worked for the NHS I wont change that.

issues i haz them, writer's block, post that mentions nursing
