Nobody was home in the town that I called home, somebody said they all had drowned

I'm currently working two jobs. One is as a pantry cook at Lynn's Paradise Cafe. The other is a "store assistant" at the Circle K near my house. They both have their pros and cons. The main con for both is the toll it appears to be taking out of my bodily comfort, and my waning social interaction. I seriously contemplated cutting off my legs at the knees for about ten minutes. Yesterday I was on my feet for 13 to 14 hours straight. I decided to buy new slip resistant shoes and gel insoles today.

Lynn's Pros:
-some cool coworkers, fat money cake, free food, not having to interact with customers.
Lynn's Cons:
-batshit crazy coworkers, the approaching derby season, location, coke-head lynn.

Circle K Pros:
-location, fat money cake with gauranteed raises, cheap health insurance after three months, people watching, nice coworkers
Cirlce K Cons:
-people watching (seriously, a gas station on preston highway between Beuchel and Oakalona only fuels my intense smoldering hatred for methheads), the lottery (it's kinda sad watching people spend upwards of $100 a day on lotto tickets), increased chance of being shot in the face for $75, and the garbage.

It's creepy, today I realised one of my coworkers is the mother of I kid I went to elementary school with, another coworker recognised me from subway, and an old man customer identified me as scott and gayle's daughter who grew up down the street, and then moved back into the neighborhood, just down the street. I suppose children don't realise how tightly knit a neighborhood is until they come back and talk to their neighbors instead of standing around bored or clamoring for attention. Apparently I've always had the prettiest red hair.

SO you're asking me, Shalan, why the hell are you killing yourself? Pick a job and go with it!
I've got plans, but in the meantime the bills don't pay themselves, or leave more then twenty bucks in my account at the end of the month.

rent, utilities, gas, insurance, taxes, wedding, tattoos, new york hope for my birthday, a new bike, etc, etc, etc.

On a side note, I'm apparently an in the closet ska fan. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle. None of you bastards have ever seen me skank, and as that scene appears to be a dead bloated horse corpse in this city, you probably never will.

work, ska
