(Cross-post from my Xanga, so if you've read that already, don't bother to read this)
I can't believe it. I got hit by a stupid effing car. Lemme backtrack for a sec: It's 2:30 Thursday (today). I grab my bag and decide to leave early for wind ensemble. I troop down the stairs, out the door, grab my bike, and head off. I pass through the opening next to the Atrium, going towards Birch (the suites), I make a left and go through the little lot between the buildings. I go down the sidewalk, go to the far side of Keats Avenue, and proceed on my merry way. *insert scary music here* So I'm riding, minding my own business, crossing the street like I've done many times before. About halfway through my crossing-the-street-journey, this blue van appears and obviously must be ignoring the stop sign, because they decided NOT TO SLOW DOWN and stop. So they hit me instead. I survived. I've got a majorly pulled left arm (which is in a sling at the moment), but that's it, thank goodness. And stupid me being stupid me just went to wind ensemble and smiled all the way. I was shaking, freaked out, realizing had I not reacted the way I did, I could be seriously injured right now or even worse. I feel lucky, but I'm terrified of something happening again. I'm also seriously pissed off, since whoever was driving the van didn't even bother to stop at all. They proceeded on their way to Barton Ave, and out onto Shaw without a care. Usually, when I'm thinking properly, I would have thought to look at the license plate on the vehicle. But I wasn't thinking properly. I just wanted to get to where I was going so I could calm down and assess the damage.
I WILL be marching tomorrow afternoon, minus the sling. I'll keep it up until then, but if my mellophone's sagging, I've got a good reason--I can't support it with my left arm whatsoever.
So I'm at home right now. My original plan was to have my mom and brother pick me up so I could go home this evening and get my car and bring it back tomorrow morning since I don't have a class or anything until noon. I didn't plan on being hit by a car. Well, I guess that's one thing to knock off my "Things I've never done" list, lol.
