For people who were worried about me that isn't friends with me on facebook, I'm safe and well. I happened to be traveling with friends to Kyoto when the earthquake happened so we were far enough away to not even realize it had happened (or exactly ho big of an earthquake it was) until we got back to our hostel to see the news. We ended up staying an extra night in Kyoto just to be safe since we weren't sure about road conditions and all, so I've just now gotten back to my dorm in
As far as I can tell, at least in my area in Kawasaki, everything seems to be running fairly normally. In fact, my room seems relatively untouched except for a couple small boxes that fell off the shelf. And for that, I'm really grateful as well as being away when it happened.
Here's hoping that everything will be all right and start settling down.
