what?! an update!
Wow, it's already been over two months since I updated LJ. I always think that I should post more, but I just get distracted as soon as I open the window XDD I'll try to do better in the very near future!
In recent news, I finally picked up my college student visa from the Japan consulate earlier this week! I have plane tickets for Tokyo so I'll be leaving on Sept. 5th. My family is also coming with me for a couple days since my parents (specifically my mom haha) want to help me settle in before going on to Hong Kong. In a lot of ways, it still hasn't really set in that this is actually going to happen, but I'm sure that will change soon once I start packing my things. I am already frozen with indecision on which of my books to bring with me XDD <-- what a dork
There's still quite a few things I need to get before I leave. Particularly, I need a laptop since I haven't had one since middle school. I didn't need one for college since there's so many computer labs on campus and I was commuting by bus anyway so it would've been a pain to be lugging it around with me. I have no idea what kind to get though--everyone's thrown their recommendations at me and they're all different since none of my friends favor the same kinds XDD I know for sure I don't want a netbook though since I really don't plan on taking it to school with me on a regular basis. Plus, I'll probably be using it mostly to watch videos/movies/DVDs and make video calls home through Skype so I'd rather not have a tiny screen. Other than that, I'm not very picky so it's hard to choose :/
Following that, I also need a new camera since my old one is so bulky XDD I love my Canon Powershot A610 though--it's endured many sudden falls and I kinda love how it uses AA batteries so even if the batteries die, I can easily replace them anywhere...unlike the rechargeable ones. Sadly, it's that exact reason that makes it so horribly heavy though ::sighs:: And since I plan on taking my camera everywhere with me, it definitely needs to be lighter.
Other than travel preparations, I'm just trying to hang out with all of my friends before I leave since I probably won't see anyone (unless people come visit me *hint hint*) for a whole year.
I even flew over to Utah last month to see my best friend from high school since haha, surprise surprise, she's pregnant with her first child. It's only been about a year since she got married, but well...she's Mormon XDD At least she finished with her undergraduate degree! I helped them move into their new apartment while I was there (hahah I always end up being slave labor somehow XDD) and I'm really glad that she's so happy. She's due in November so I'll definitely miss the whole process, which is one of the main reasons why I wanted to go and see her. My last time visiting her, she was just dating her husband so she was pretty much so engrossed in him that I felt totally neglected. It was a lot better this time since we actually got to have girl bonding time and it wasn't so awkward.
Hmmmm...other than that, I'm still regularly following Arashi's variety shows XDD This week's episodes deserve a post on their own so I'll wait until after Shiyagare comes out since it looks EPIC <3 oh, and I've been slowly working my way through Voice. I really love this drama so far (even though I keep thinking you guys act more like investigators than forensic students XDD). Ikuta Toma is so pretttyy~ And I recognize all these random side characters since they've shown up in Arashi shows before or acted in dramas with them XDD
