2012 - A look back

Jan 16, 2013 22:11

Before I can actually focus on what I want to get done in 2013, it's important to look back a bit as well. Here are my resolutions from last year with a bit of commentary.

1.) Please no end of the world. There's still so much I want to do!
Well that worked out well! Glad to see we're still here.

2.) Loose weight and try to eat healthier.
Hmm... of course that one didn't really go that well. At least I dropped 2kgs and was able to keep them off. Still, healthy is something that comes and goes and weight loss seems farther and farther away as I get older. Getting older sucks, at least when it comes to your body. You develop so many aches and everything takes longer to heal...

3.) Loose stuff and I really mean this. I'd like to keep track of things I buy and things I get rid off and make sure that I get rid of more stuff than I buy. I have so much stuff accumulated from my time and travels in Japan and I need to get rid of them. I'm living among boxes, my cupboards are full. I want to move from quantity to quality and get rid of things I don't care for anymore.
I only started actively selling things at the end of November? I did get rid of a few things that have been sitting around forever. I'm quite happy that cleaning out my clothes has gone better than I ever expected. But I've only just started, it's the tip of the iceberg so to say. I really need to continue. At least I did not bring too much back from Japan. I did turn into a clothes whore for some reason though...

4.) Sort the stuff I want to keep and arrange it in a way that I can find it! That includes especially all my travel related material which is all over the place.
Oh, that's a good one. That's such a sensible idea! I should really do that!

5.) Keep working at my travel blog, my writing, my photography to make it a place that people actually go to (as it's under my real name and in German I won't post it here, but if you're interested, just send me a PM).
Oh well... it comes in bouts. Sometimes I post quite regularly and then everything dies down. That goes for my travel blog and my photography. I've started writing down ideas for stories again. At least that's a start?

6.) Find a better job.
Well... I didn't find one, I made one. I actually studied again to pass a test to be able to do my own thing. More about that soon.

7.) Read more and I don't mean on the internet!
I think my kindle counts, right? I've been reading a lot since I got my kindle. It's mostly fanfiction with a few classics thrown in, but it's reading and it's not forum threads. I was hooked on forums in 2011.

8.) Make one more vacation with my s.o. this year and go to Japan (goal this year: Ogasawara islands) possible in March/April.
I actually overachieved a little here! I went on that vacation with my s.o. and I went to the Ogasawara Islands and then I went to Japan again on the cusp of 2013, but still, three unexpected days of Japan in 2012, that's definitely a win!

So next? Resolutions for 2013. Coming up soon!
