Labor Day

Back from another weekend of slave labor in the Taber household. I'm actually pretty impressed with all of the work we got done. Our cottage in Petoskey is finally beginning to take shape. The entire framework is done, we painted the whole exterior, and the base of the deck is complete. There's still quite a bit of interior work that needs to be done before it is ready for ski weekends though ;) My weekend wasn't entirely work, we did take some breaks to go on our four-wheeler and rafting on the Sturgeon River. My family went with some friends of ours that have a cottage near us. Over the years I've tried to become more accepting of their 17 year-old daughter, but seriously, she is ridiculous. I try not to be stereotypical, but she definitely acts the part of a spoiled Grosse Pointe ditz. On our drive to the drop-in spot she saw these 3 little cabins and asked in all seriousness if they were slave cabins....um.yeah....last time I checked slavery was abolished about 150 years ago. Then when we got there she freaked out because she overheard one of the workers talking about fish in the river. I got stuck in a 7 person raft with her...oh was that fun. She shrieked every time a drop of water touched her. It's a frickin river, what do you expect?!? Despite her annoying antics I managed to have a lovely time. The weather was perfect and it was a welcome break from work. It's good to be back at Ferris...but I can already feel myself slipping behind. I'm going to have to get on top of things, it's way to early in the year to be procrastinating this badly.
