Background Colors Without CSS

In response to this post, I made the following comment:
I want that car in the first picture, but I might repaint it yellow…
Note that the text has a white background to make it legible; this would have been hard to read:

However, as I have mentioned many times before, CSS effects are not allowed in LJ comments. So how did I give the text a white background? Here’s the code:

Since you can specify background images for tables (for the entire table or for cells within it) without using CSS, I made background images in a variety of colors (the URL for a solid white background is highlighted in the code above). All of the colors I have for solid backgrounds so far are:

I had originally started this with the white background for use in posting spoilers (in white text on a white background), before the [Spoiler (click to open)] tag was created, and then decided to expand the colors available for other uses. I’m posting this here now just in case anyone else ever has the need or desire to do something similar in an LJ comment.
