Has anyone ever seen a naturally occurring medical condition present as a result of a curse?

I've seen infections spread by curse-induced vectors, but that's not entirely the same thing.

[ooc; fgfdg please forgive me + pretend this was earlier? Cameron is power-switched with Claire, and at the time of posting she thinks she has ( Read more... )

[Some compulsion... compels...]

They might not be medical conditions, really, but we've had plagues and the common cold before. Something like what you're talking about doesn't sound that far fetched.

[oh joy. Cameron is thrilled, can you tell? Possibly not... since being painfully polite is one of her talents.]

That's true; I don't think I've ever seen those recur on mixed-curse days, but it's hardly impossible.

I don't think we'll ever really be able to get to the bottom of the bag when it comes to the mixed curses. The deities just like pulling them out at random.

Do you have something? Maybe I could -

I think I must. It's nothing I can't manage, for a day.

Is it something gross?

Don't try to make jokes, Claire.

That doesn't make it sound too serious. Which is a good thing.

If I thought it would be more than a day... well, it's a moot point.

If it actually is something serious, the fact that it's only going to last one day doesn't make it any less serious.

That's very true. But I'm familiar with how to manage it. Call it a professional advantage.

Do you mind if I ask what it is?

Keeping in mind that self-diagnoses are typically frowned upon? CIPA. A congenital insensitivity to pain. I haven't confirmed the anhidrosis.

I know what it stands for.

It sucks even for a day.

[Recent willful avoidance on top of a tendency not to pry into the stranger aspects of the City means she knows only the barest bits about Claire's ability. If that.]

It's... unsettling.

How do you know that's -

Are your sure you're alright?

[A while later, after some small incident has disproven her hypothesis...]

I'm all right.

It's dangerous. CIPA.

[Which is a painfully obvious thing to say, and Claire has the feeling she isn't actually helping anything while she's here.]

Maybe you should just sit in a room filled with pillows for the rest of the day.
