At
sinden's, drinking tea and eating Krispy Kreme donuts. Oh my god, Krispy Kreme, where have you been all my life? Answer: Sydney, obviously. I've heard of them before, on tv, in fic, but I had no idea. And I don't even like sweet things!
I managed to leave
sinden's present in
3scoremiles_10's car, after she very kindly drove me to the airport. I noticed three seconds after walking into the terminal, but of course there were cellphone issues and
3scoremiles_10 made it all the way home (totally the other side of Wellington) before noticing. At which point she drove all the way back.
So. Ahem. Anyone out there who wants a copy of her Alexander novel when it's released and can't order a copy from where you are, I'm taking one for the team. I will wrap and send it to you.
Then, thanks to Air New Zealand's wonderful new policy of never sitting unaccompanied minors next to men because they're all criminals, and therefore punishing young women disproportionately, I sat between two eight year olds. They were quite sweet, but they kept touching my laptop with sticky fingers, and chattering constantly while I was working. I felt like McKay on the Planet of Children. Then I remembered I still had a couple of episodes of SG:A saved, and stuck them on. The kids were mesmerised by the Superwraith but not too scared, so it worked out well.
Arrived, met
sinden at the airport where we further tested the McKay analogy because I said I really liked the airline meal, she said oh no, aren't you going to want dinner, and I said hey no, they're teeny, I can totally eat again! She then asked what I was deathly allergic to, I said peanuts, we both cracked up, and all was good.
Then we talked about fandom all night. Surprise! This week is going to be great.
