Random observation
I've come to the conclusion that road workers must eat as many meals as Hobbits.
They are doing some road construction on the way to my house, so every time I drive by there I get to observe the guys in their little white hard hats and vests with the orange reflective tape on.
The other day I went by at 8:00am to go to a doctor appointment, and the guys were all lounging on top of their big machines. On my way home after my appointment at 9:30 they were still in the same position, and I could have sworn they were a bunch of statues (perhaps put all over the machines as a theft deterrent) but they were laughing and drinking from cans with little gloves on, the kind that you use to keep your drinks cold on a hot day. I like to call them can condoms.
I figured they were enjoying a long breakfast, or were they on their second breakfast?
But when I passed by at 11:00 while taking Jon to school they were lounging again. I grinned to myself and whispered 'elevensies.' Those road crews are amusing.
But when I went by at 2:00pm that same day to pick Jon up from school, the workers were still pretty much sittin' around. One guy was wrapping a hose around his arm, but the rest seemed to be spectators to the hose wrapping. Was this the entertainment for afternoon tea?
It must be that they happen to be on meal breaks wherever I drive by, cos people who are paid by the hour using our tax dollars wouldn't accept pay for sitting around drinking icy drinks from their condom'd cans, would they?
Heh, way to go road dudes, stick it to the man! I would bake some cookies to bring out to them, but they'd probably think I was hitting on them, so I'll stick to grinning at them whenever I drive past.
Postscript: I'm not horny right now, I just like the picture I used for the horny mood. Too bad it's too small to really be able to see the look on Gil's face well. Heh.
