Preferred name?

So I put in a job application at Neshaminy Manor today. Most of it was the standard job app questions, but there was a spot next to the name box for "Preferred name". I'm not exactly sure what the intent of that is, that it would have to be on the actual application, but I was SO tempted to put down Joscelin. I really do prefer it to Michael, because EVERYONE is named Michael. I love my mother, of course, but I often think she just kind of picked the default boy's name because she thought I was going to be a girl.

I've been using it a year and a half now, but I wasn't adventurous enough to actually put in down on a job app yet. Maybe next time.
