The Marina

I absolutely love the ocean.

I mean, i love all forms of water; lakes, rivers, rain, bottled. But the ocean, vast expanses of water, that's true love.

The end of school is always a time for reflection, and with this year's theme of "Awakening" continuing to the bitter end, my mind has had little rest. It gets worse in the moments of solitude usually, and i found myself spending most of the weekend sleeping to escape my thoughts.

Today was a volunteer day, and luckily, i didn't have to file things all day. I spent more of my time meeting the people i'll be working with, making photocopies, cleaning up after all the little kids. But by 5:30, everything was cleaned up, locked up, and there was nothing left to do. So Jenna let me go early, and when i walked out of the Children's Center, the first thing i saw was the sun shining down on the marina. And just like that, i drove down to the Everett Marina and just walked.

There's something about the salty misting breeze, the cawing seagulls and lapping waves in the glistening sunlight that i can't help but find myself soothed by. I stood there for a while, and went for a little walk, looking at all the yachts and just enjoying the day. And it was very peaceful.

I have an interview tomorrow. We'll see what comes out of it, but i'm hopeful. I'm ready for school to be over too. What shall we do when summer comes? A topic for discussion at lunch tomorrow.
