Busy, I have been. Whenever interesting things happen, it always comes in groups then nothing for awhile again afterward.
Anyway, this 'bout actually began last week and it was kinda shit-tastic at first. I got mandated to work another full shift after already working a full 8 hour shift. 16 hours at work, yay! NOT. Meh, at least it made my wallet happy.
Next was when I was checking out the local thrift shops. I've been looking for an ankle length, black trench coat that I wouldn't have to kill my wallet for for damn near forever. I found one at the local goodwill for $25 and it was in perfect condition. I looked for the brand label thinking it was probably some off brand, otherwise the owner wouldn't have gotten rid of it without it being damaged. Mind blown when I saw RALPH LAUREN in shiny gold letters. Ha HA, now I can wear it and make ppl wonder what I'm up to!
After that was yesterday's trip to Minneapolis and St. Paul. My boyfriend, another guy friend and I went to the Science Museum of Minnesota to see the dead sea scrolls. The IMAX movie we saw first was good, it's been awhile since I was last in one of those theaters. Then came the scroll exhibit. I'm far from a religious person, but it was still pretty damn cool. I do wish that parents wouldn't bring small children and babies to exhibits like that. The kids get bored and start messing with things or just make a noise that drowns out the recordings you play for information on the exhibit pieces. A 3-year old child isn't going to be interested in the dead sea scrolls or even remember the exhibit. They can't even take the kid out 'cause you only get a one-time only entry ticket. once you leave, there's no going back in. After that we wandered around the rest of the museum. It was a lot like the Discovery World museum I went to as a kid. Ah, nostalgia.
After the museum we went to the mall of America. Last time I was there was right after they had changed from camp snoopy to the nickelodeon thing they have now (camp snoopy was better, damn it). Anyway, went to ragstock and got some nifty stuff. I looked at their kimono, obi and haori, Dear god they were in bad shape, what the fuck did the previous owners DO to them? They were ripped, stained and looked like they had been stuffed into a small box and left there for a few years. I did find 2 haori that weren't torn or stained and didn't have too many wrinkles. I found a beautiful obi too, it's beyond wearing (and I don't think it would go well with any of my kimono anyway) but I'm thinking of finding a big rectangular frame and arranging it inside as a decoration. I found what I'm pretty sure is a furoshiki too. Raid successful! Then we went to FYE and they had some 50% off sale that I took shameless advantage of to get Kodocha season 2 and Nerima Daikon Brothers (haven't seen the latter one yet, but I hear it's good). I found an awesome X-Mas present for two of my friends too. Kinda early, but now I don't have to deal with it later. It was a good trip despite being in pain the whole time. Why is it so goddamn hard to find a painkiller that I don't have to OD on just to get the intended single-dose effect? WHY? Fuck I hate being female sometimes...
All in all, September has been good to me. Makes me wonder what bullshit October is going to send my way....
