Fail, self!

So things are continuing, in general. Nothing much has changed since my last post... Well, I got a new wallet, so there's something.

But anyway, as I've mentioned before, I do a lot of the cooking in the house these days, especially while I'm out of work. But when my tinnitus started, my doctor told me that I had to cut back on certain things that would make it worse: alcohol, caffeine, salty foods -- and, for reasons I totally didn't get at the time, cheese. I assumed it was the salt content, shrugged, and hacked it out of my diet along with the rest.

Then, awhile back, someone told me that what I was probably being told to avoid was actually something called tyramine, which is in aged cheeses. Okay, well, either way, no cheese, right? Right.

Then, today, on a whim, I randomly looked up exactly what it is I'm supposed to be avoiding... and as it turns out, this shit is in EVERYTHING. In food I have been eating forever! Food I have not stopped eating for even two seconds! So GOOD JOB, ME.

Now the real question is: if I've been eating all this shit with no real adverse affects, should I A: continue and add cheese back into my life (in moderation -- I'd like to lose weight ever) or B: get it all the hell out? On the one hand, it is food I love and do not want to quit (avocados, I would miss you too much :( ). On the other hand, I've already been slowly bringing alcohol back in, and I don't want to, like, push anything over any edges or whatever.

And the real, real question: does this mean I can make some carbonara tonight?

edit OH ALSO I SHOULD ADD ONE OF THE THINGS ON THE LIST IS SOY SAUCE AND THERE MAY BE ANOTHER TRIP TO JAPAN IN MY NEAR-ISH FUTURE.

BTW we did have carbonara tonight and it was delicious. I should probably hit the gym tomorrow.
