So I'm sitting here with Simon sipping caipirinhas and reflecting on a very odd year so far.
Work is slow. Terribly slow. I've got things to do but some days it is a chore to make it to the end with stuff to occupy me. This is compounded by the fact that the work I do have to do has been challenging, and I've had to deal with a particularly difficult client and an obstinate sales person. Fun times, but I'm sorting it out. Let's just hope my agency survives the recession.
As much as I should be putting some into savings we've been behaving pretty much the opposite. We've gone out to eat most nights since returning from New York, and the last couple weeks have done a lot of shopping. We found a couch we really liked and bought that last night. I've also been adding some pretty awesome bottles of wine to my collection, since prices have dropped through the floor due to the economic turmoil.
Simon has not been in a good mood at all this year, and a large part of our going out so much has been to keep him occupied and in good spirits. I've enjoyed going out this often, I must admit.
My friend Jimmy moved to SoCal from Wisconsin and I've been showing him around town a lot, broadening his food horizons. He's been another great excuse to go to some of my favorite places in LA. Brunch at Joe's in Venice was particularly good. Love that place.
