Name your top six TV shows right now, before reading the questions.
1. Firefly
2. Star Trek Enterprise
3. House M.D.
4. Dragon Ball Z
5. Transformers
6. Supernatural
They're not all current shows, but they do comprise the list of my top six favorites. :)
1.) Who is your favorite character from #2?
A: That would be chief engineer Charles "Trip" Tucker III! :D I adore that man.
2.) Who is your least favorite character from #4?
A: Augh, what a tough question! Considering just how many characters there are in this series (and if you want to count all the DBZ movies - holy crap), it's nigh on impossible to pick someone, but... With regards to characters I dislike because they are simply bad characters, I'd have to go with Oolong. Sure he has a purpose with being Kame-senin's accomplice in sleezy, dirty escapades and whatnot, but... he always annoyed me endlessly. When it comes to characters that I just love to hate because they are so evil - has to be Cell, hands down.
3.) What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include?
A: OMG This would be epic on so many levels... and pure wrong on countless others. XD Gah, how are these two universes even compatible? Would we see a Decepticon-Alliance, erm, alliance? (If you could even say 'cons have allies...) Actually, I could totally see those two groups "teaming up" to defeat their respected enemies all the while actually using each other for more nefarious and grand purposes - he 'con's desire for controlling the universe, he Alliance's wish to not only squelch all those nasty Browncoats but also capture River and continue building their little army... hmm... It has potential! That and I would kill to hear a conversation beween Optimus Prime and Book. Fuck yes.
4.) Who is your favorite ship from #6?
A: Hahaha, Wincest - what else? XD Although I'm more of a J2 person than Sam/Dean.
5.) If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be?
A: Wow, this is great - because I actually read a cross-over fic with these two universes once! And it was pretty sweet. Anyway, blind date. At first I thought of Cuddy and Dean, but I can't help but think that relationship would turn out to be more of a mother-son thing than anything, for some reason. Okay, let's go for the lulz factor here. I would totally set up Castiel and Foreman. My logic is this: They both need them some love. They both, in a way, share the whole "do right" complex - but they are both also hindered by their obligation to obey their respective bosses. Would it work out? Who knows??
6.) If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be and what would you do?
A: Oh my god, what I wouldn't give to spend a day with Goku. Can you imagine the PURE FUN it would be? The places we could travel (huzzah for teleportation!), the silly conversations... it would be epic.
7.) If you could change one thing about #2's plotline, what would you change?
A: TRIP WOULD HAVE NEVER DIED A FUCKING POINTLESS DEATH. He would still be alive and kicking rather than taking up dead space in the universe after suffering a death that had no fucking purpose whatsoever except to ENRAGE ME AUGH.
8.) Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5 and why you like the relationship between them.
A: Hm, this is tough. The one that most immediately leaps to mind is from the 2007 movie - the relationship between Sam Witwicky and Bumblebee. The idea of friendships between giant, alien robots and us piddly little humans boggles the mind, and to see these two so close and devoted to each other - in such a short amount of time - was fascinating and heart-warming. I think it helps that Bumblebee is made out to be a much more "down-to-earth" (lol) character type than, say, the elevated persona of Optimus Prime; thus to a human, he is exceedingly more approachable, as far as alien, robotic organisms the size of buildings can be approachable. I love that in the end, Bumblebee made a conscious decision to stay with Sam - to what extent he does this, I can't say, as we won't know until the next movie comes out, but it could be anything from "I'm gonna spend all my freetime hanging out with you" to "Every second of every day will be spent watching over you" to "Even if my brothers left this planet, I would remain here to protect you and be your companion." I look forward to finding out!
9.) If the lead title characters (first names in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?
A: Oh no! Choose between dear Mal and House?? D8 Either way, it would bring a world of pain to the people in their lives... I honestly don't know who I would choose. I guess... I should say House, because I can be marginally more sure that Mal could take care of himself, while House's lack of thigh muscle makes that highly questionable.
10.) If you could change the title characters' order in the credits for #4, what order would you choose?
A: I would have definitely gone in the direction Toriyama originally intended and put Gohan's name at the top of the credits. (And let it be known, I am eternally cursing those stupid fanboys who put so much pressure on the man to keep the focus on Goku rather than let him develop the story of Gohan, as he wanted to. AGH!) Other than that, I think the order is quite satisfactory.
11.) If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline of #6, what would the character be like, and what would their role be?
A: Whoever it would be, they would not disrupt or overtake the presence of our boys, that's for sure. But I wouldn't mind seeing a character who can act as a buddy-buddy friend for Sam and Dean. He/She wouldn't even have to appear more than a couple times and would perhaps serve as an anchor to a more "normal" life that the brothers have never really had. Somebody who is unaware of their true lives, but doesn't care in a way that implies they would like them anyway, even if they did know. It would be fun and interesting - and perhaps illuminating for their personalities - to watch them interact with someone like that. Just see them hang out and do everyday stuff that has nothing to do with demons, angels, rugaru, or whathaveyou.
12.) What happens in your favorite episode of show #2?
A: My favorite episode of Enterprise, and perhaps my favorite episode of any Star Trek series (or really, TV show) to date, is "Shuttlepod One". In it, Malcolm and Trip are stranded in a shuttlepod, cut off from communication to Enterprise as they search for the ship within an asteroid field. They stumble upon scattered pieces of hull from the Enterprise around an impact crater and draw the conclusion that the ship - and al their friends on it - were destroyed. Their sensors and communication array are down, so they have no means of contacting anyone nor any way to tell if another ship is out there until they can physically see it. They have only a limited amount of air, but the nearest subspace amplifier is more than ten days of travel away. They both struggle with a seemingly inevitabe death, in their own ways. It's a fantastically psychological episode, all the more impressive as it was one of the lowest-budget episodes of the entire series. I loved Malcolm's detached narration of a final letter to his loved ones, contrasted with Trip's heated anger at the man for being so accepting of death. The whole thing culminates in an incredibly powerful scene where Trip decides he will space himself to give Malcolm a few more hours of precious air, hopefuly enough time to find help. He even climbs up to the hatch, but Malcolm talks him down from it at gunpoint. The episode is made all the more important when you consider that these two characters have been essentially rivals for the entire season. But this near-death experience reveals aspects of their characters to each other that allow them to realize their assumptions about the other had perhaps been entirely wrong. Luckily, there's a happy ending involving the Enterprise returning just in time to rescue the hypothermic, nearly comatose men. But it was a fascinating look at humanity and how it reacts in the face of death.
13.) If you could kill off one of the characters in #1, who would it be and how would you do it?
A: Well, I certainly know who I wouldn't kill off! *cough*Wash*cough* But that aside, I would have to say Kaylee, because I am that cruel. She is their ray of sunshine in all the darkness and to have that snuffed out would do irrepairable damage to the entire crew's psyche... and yet, it would be so poetically tragic that I can't resist. I can't decide if it would be better to the story if she died while in her element (attempting to repair a failing engine on the Firefly, perhaps? A refusing the go down with the ship sort of thing) or while doing something that forced her a bit beyond her comfort zone.
14.) If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose?
A: Seeing as Transformers doesn't actually have a set (unless you count the 2007 movie), I'd say House! The entire cast seems like such a great bunch of people - fun, friendly, smart, hard-working... And what I wouldn't give to see the masters, Hugh Laurie and Robert Sean Leonard, at work in all their glory! The experience would just be... awe-inspiring. (And inspiring of some nice fantasies... XD)
15.) If you could date anyone from any of these shows, which show and which person would it be?
A: Huh, if this isn't the question to end all questions! Geez.... I'm not sure that there's anybody I'd be truly romantically compatible with on these shows... All the people I would consider dating are entirely wrapped up with someone else, so it would just feel wrong. There's Wash and Zoe (both of whom I'd date in an instant! Wash's silliness and devotion, Zoe's pure awesome... how could one not?), Wilson's too much intertwined with House... Trip perhaps would work out, although he and T'Pol were quite close toward the end and even had a child, but then again, he's a bit too downhome for me - would probably be more focused on family than I am and we probably wouldn't last. As much as I adore Sam and Dean, I don't think I'd be compatible with them romantically, either. Oooh, but I could totally see myself dating either Bulma or Gohan from DBZ. I think Bulma's mad genius would really complement my own love of sciene - and the same with Gohan. I'd also line up well with Gohan's love of nature and appreciation for life in general.
Haha, well, that was much more essay-like than I originally intended. XD But then, I got distracted with Anna's epic battle against cyber-Erol and beating Jak 3... lol.
