Question time, people!

Hopefully somebody here can help me out...

I've been working all summer on my ZOMG FIRST EVAR cosplay for D*Con and AWA, and I know at least a couple of you guys have cosplayed before. So I've got a question! Part of my costume is being made out of camping foam (that ~3/4 in thick pliable but firm pad stuff you can buy at Wal-Mart or Target for $6), but being that it is foam, it's quite porous. I'm only using bits and pieces, but I need to spray paint them so that they blend in with the larger pieces of my costume. (Basically, I'm using them to add three-dimensional detail by gluing them to the surface of otherwise flat "armor".) As an experiment, I tried to spray painting it directly, but unsurprisingly, the paint sinks into the holes. Does anybody know of a good sealant or something that I can either spray or paint on to seal off the pore of the foam, allowing the finished painted product to look like the rest of my costume (mostly poster board)? I've heard many people use polyeurethane, but I was concerned at the fact that it's oil based.

HELP, PLZ! I'll love you forever!

Oh and in other news... The Dark Knight? A-FUCKING-+++++ WOULD WATCH AGAIN!

and again and again and again and again and again and again and....

help, cosplay
