It's been a weekend of fun, relaxation, and guilty pleasures.
Friday night, a slumber party -- pink champagne, pink cupcakes, pizza, Cosmopolitans,
Sex and the City, gossip, giggling - a veritable festival of estrogen (an estrogenfest?!). I'm proposing we find a way to do this every two or three months (if we can manage to get at least one of our husband's out of town, to host :)
Saturday - R&R to make up for Friday night's lack of sleep. Some reading, but mostly movies:
Mrs. Brown,
Moulin Rouge, and Kenneth Branagh's
Love's Labours Lost. I'd never seen the first one, but really enjoyed it (there's some magnificent dialogue); the second is always a guilty pleasure (and the soundtrack makes its way into my workout regularly; the third wasn't as good as I'd remembered it (I'm glad it was free on-demand), though I still find
Natascha McElhone astonishingly beautiful and talented. And, admittedly, Nathan Lane was perfectly cast:

Sunday - 6.3 miles in Discovery Park (bringing me to 26.3 so far in 2009), laundry, straightening up, planning dinner (Shrimp Fra Diavolo with linguine), and, a tremendous guilty pleasure -
the New York Times Magazine with a pot of terrific coffee and scones. I'll get around to the rest of the Sunday paper . . . eventually . . . maybe . . . but could spend an entire afternoon enjoyably reading the magazine. And I have :)
