I was helping out someone hunt down some plain paper for a printer and she said "why doesn't he clean up" indicating the facilities guy who is supposed to go around and hunt down stuff to do instead of sitting at his desk playing on his iphone obviously didn't do his job...again ( Read more... )

Seems like such a simple question dunnit?

Not like it boils down to one of the central questions of all of psychology or anything like that...

You said gentle readers, so you obviously didn't mean me. I'm a reader all right, but gentle I ain't. That said, I found it's more individual than that. The whole planning thing, always having supplies on hand, is more obvious in my friends who didn't have enough/ had had to make do or do without when growing up, or at some point in their past. If things are a even a little better now, hey make sure to have several back ups on hand of common items, like light bulbs and toilet paper. They're also more likely to be of the "fix it right now so you don't have to deal with it when it's worse" mindset.

This is why when the first few cracks showed up on the windshield of the car I told him "you gotta get this fixed before it gets outta hand".
One of the things on his hunny do list for winter vacation (his not mine) is to get the cracked windshield fixed...given that our insurance doesn't cover it and he seems to think it will run around $150 (ha try double or even triple that).

Why do people think ahead..if you do this now it will save you time when it is crunch time down the road. Get the paper out to the printers and when the COO starts hopping around cuz he has no paper the facilities manager doesn't get yelled at.

I am confused for something so obvious.
