Poor Nappi! That's just awful :( This just seems to keep happening to him. I hope he'll have better luck in the future.
You know, if the owners of the big dog have actually lost animals in the past due to negligent care, you could probably call animal wellfare officials about this. It's anonymous, and sometimes a visit from the authorities can scare owners into cleaning up their act - or if the dog is aggressive because they abuse it, the bastard owners can be slapped with a eläimenpitokielto-thingy. It's in the best interest of the poor dog who has to live with them if someone saves it from being poorly treated.
And hey, there's nothing cold in wanting to fix up your own life before adding the responsibility of another life. If anyone asked me (which I realise, no one has done, but I feel like writing long comments, so here's my two cents) more people should wait before starting a family. What's the rush? It's a rest-of-your-life type commitment, I think it's wonderful and responsible to be absolutely sure you're on your own two feet and able to handle it before diving into something like that.
