I'm leaving for Madison in the morning. I should have packed tonight, but when do I ever do any packing in advance? Really, it would be insulting to my reputation as a last-minute packer.
Instead, I went through all my clothes and have successfully retired about 45% of my wardrobe. As a result, I've got a bag full of t-shirts and sweatshirts that I want to save for future a t-shirt quilt, and another bag for Goodwill. Now I'll have a lot less to move down to Madison. I'm going to pack my "most worn" clothes to bring down with me, and hopefully all that will be left will be one Rubbermaid tote and maybe a bag.
I have also decided not to pack tonight partly because my cats KNOW that when the luggage comes out, I'm leaving, and they're never happy about that. I can tell they know something's up, but I haven't touched the suitcases yet. If Ivy knows I'm leaving, she'll rarely cuddle with me, which makes me really sad when it's my last night at home for a while!
The only reason I'm sad about leaving is that I won't get to see my cats every day. They're going to be bummed when I'm not around every day, too. Really, I have no life here (kind of by choice I guess, but there isn't much for one to do). If I could get a great job here, I'd stay. But now I'm trading off a killer job for a better quality of life. Chances are I'll end up as a cashier somewhere for a while. Oh well. At least I'll be able to connect with a church and spend time with Rachel and Kevin. Hopefully I'll even have friends eventually, too! haha...
Okay, I'd better get some sleep if I have to do all my packing in the morning. Can't wait to hear mom yell at me for this one. ;) I always drive her mad with my last-minuteness...
(Just for clarification's sake, I'm not quite moving yet...most of my stuff will still be at my parents' until Rach and Kevin settle into their house and I can get the rest of my stuff down...somehow. I will be renting from them for a while.)
