I feel like the last one I did was very similar. But it sounds like fun so I'll do it again.
thefridayfive 1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.
I am named (Ashley) after some actress that was in a soap opera my mother liked. She heard the name back in '85 or '86 and decided she liked it for her daughter. My middle name (Ruth) is after my Grandma Ruth Bovin, who died 2 weeks before my parents got married. She named a daughter (my aunt) Ruthalene, so I always say I'm named after the both of them.
Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?
Boys:
-August or Augustus (I'm geeked for Greco-Roman history)
-Caden (if I don't have a girl named Cadence)
I haven't put much thought into boy's names, even though I do think I want a boy.
Girls:
-Cadence (marching band, plus it's just pretty and she could be Cady for short)
-Novalee (after my mother, Novalene, and the character in Where the Heart Is)
-Margaret (it's so old fashioned and pretty!)
there's more I've thought about but I can't remember them right now
3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?
Either Eric or Philip. [Thank God I'm a girl]
4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?
Ruth. Hands down. My parents should have just named me it in the first place. It's more original, in my opinion, than Ashley - ESPECIALLY around my age.
5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?
Oh gosh. Even though I have the most common spelling of Ashley ever, I always get "Ashely". I'll give some people the benefit of the doubt and say they mis-typed, but I know that some people just don't know. Also, my last name's been slaughtered before. Bouin, Brown, Bovine (GRRR).
I have a to do research on my family's ancestry and I have NO idea about a lot of it. 6-page paper due on Monday. Joy. I'd rather be transcribing my interview with Fiore. But that will be my reward for AFTER I get the paper done. See, all that counseling DID teach me something!!!
I don't want to go to work today. Grr.
